Polarizer and analyzer of neutrons
Production capacities of “Neutron Technologies” LLC allow us to manufacture devices for neutron polarization analysis – neutron polarizers and analyzers, the key component of which are super mirror polarizing elements.
Polarizing elements are thin (up to 0.5 mm) silicon or quartz wafers from 50*50 mm2 to 200*500 mm2, with a one-sided multilayer nanostructured coating.
Polarizers and analyzers consists of multilayer supermirror coatings. The coatings are transparent to neutrons with one polarization and reflective to neutrons with opposite polarization. A positioning system is used to move such devices.
In 2024, Neutron Technologies LLC was the first in Russia after a long break to develop and manufacture a fan polarizer with a positioning system assembled on flat mirrors. The characteristics of the developed product are superior to foreign analogues.
Polarizer parameters:
- Input window size - 60x30 mm2;
- Output window size - 53x30 mm2;
- Direct beam divergence - 0.01 rad;
- Mirror assembly length - 350 mm;
- Glass substrate thickness - 0.4 mm;
- Number of mirrors - 26;
- Mirror arrangement - vertical.
Polarizing mirror parameters:
- Minimum wavelength - 2.3 À;
- Maximum wavelength - 14 À;
- Substrate dimensions - 350x50x0.4 mm;
- Multilayer coating – CoFeV/TiZr with m=2 (on both sides);
- Polarizing efficiency - 95-96%.
Magnetic system parameters:
- Magnet material – NdFeB;
- Magnetic field - not less than 500G;
- Magnetic field uniformity - 3-4% throughout the volume.
